Been doing my bit

Catherine, your "portion control and the G.I. method" is working - we can see that from your HbA1c. Wonderful - KUTGW.

I followed the NHS/DUK method, following the GI method. It worked satisfactorily & I could lead an active life, including tennis, for 8 years. Then neuropathy set it & I suffered intense leg pain. I thought my active life was over. At that point I cut back on carbs, as advised by Fergus & others on this forum. Within 3 months I was free from pain & more active than before.

The point is that we are not given the information that carbs metabolise to glucose & that carb reduction/control could be beneficial. I was told at a teaching programme when newly diagnosed, that "everything turns to glucose, so keep to complex carbs."

You will find that almost everybody on here who is passionate about low carbing found out the benefits for themselves. We have gone against professional advice. That is why we are "evangelical" about it - its life transforming, like the Gospel of Jesus.
