Been told to have another HbA1c

Even though my last one was in September, I had a medication review as I take sertraline for anxiety and informed the doctor that I no longer take metformin since September due to my HbA1c being in normal range, which was agreed by my doctor. I was told that I need another HbA1c to see how I am coping without it,
I was initially on 2000mg then 500mg before it was eventually stopped, it seems some hcp’s want any reason to put diabetics on medication

For once I'd kind of agree with your doctor that after stopping medication it would be good to check up on progress..
It's likely something they have never seen before so hardly surprising that they want to make sure you are ok?

The doctor who stopped it was happy for me to have a HbA1c annually, will have the blood test though hopefully will be ok

Well once diagnosed T2 you should get 2 per year anyway as per NICE guidelines.
I reminded my GP about this last time we had our regular statin conversation and now get them regularly.

I’d actually be pleased they are on the ball. More information is never a bad thing when it comes to keeping track of your diabetes. Either you’ll prove to yourself and them it’s going great or you’ll know something extra needs doing - now rather than in 9 months time.

I still get mine done about every 3-4 months. I think that will do two things- keep me on the straight and narrow and warn me if I'm not and also give me an opportunity to educate my doctor.

I was due to have my 6 month hba1c in April along with my diabetic review but haven’t been able to get an appointment yet.
