Beer and frequent urination

I have Type 2 and find that if I have a couple of beers my need to urinate is very very frequent and frustrating. Example...last night I had 2.5 pints and a few Gin and Tonics and I had to pee about 15 times between about 6pm and 8 am the following day. It drives me mad and seems to be more prevalent if I drink beer. Any thoughta would be appreciated.

Polyuria seems to come as part of the territory for T2's although you sound as if you have quite a bad case of it. The urge to pee can be quite strong and frequent as you are finding out. In the early days my DN told me to cut down on the diuretics i.e. tea and coffee and to buy de-caff. Nothing helped. The quantity of liquid in beer might make beer drinking in public difficult. It's OK when you you live in a house with three loos as I do.

I don't have a quick answer to it. If de-caff and less beer doesn't work you may have to join the rest of us and plan journeys using the shortest route between toilets.

Urinating loads is a sign of high blood sugars. Some people call beer ‘liquid bread’, in other words it is loaded in carbs and therefore sugar. What has your blood sugar been during these episodes?

When diagnosed I gave away my quite substantial beer collection.... and anything else carbie... and my mid night trips to the toilet stopped soon after. Not had a beer since..

Beer's got a lot of carbs, and would impact your bloodsugars.... And would invite constant urination. I dunno if other beverages are an option? Champagne would be great, but that's not exactly something people'd drink regularly. ;) Wine and quite a bit of hard liquor are low carb... Personally I stick with tea and coffee due to my own non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which makes my liverarea hurt like mad with so much of a sip of the good stuff. But if you want to partake, maybe this page 'll help: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/alcohol
