hi is beetroot a good veg for people with type 2
metforman 4x500mg
simvastat 1x40mg
ramipril 1x10mg
aspirin 1x.75mg
bisoprolol 1x2.5mg
dosulepin 1x.75mg

Boiled 8.6 g carbs pickled 5.6g, so depends how much you eat really 100g of beetroot is rather a lot. Best thing to do is try it and test your bg after two hours and see if it spikes.

I add 60g to salads and it seems ok but not if I add much other stuff - hummus is ok but other pre-prepared dips dont seem to mix well so guess theres just too many carbs in the combination

I take B vits in quite a high dosage and combined with beetroot gives the nurse testing the urine sample quite q scare

Seriously. It's caught me out a few times
I've read about it but it's never happened to me.
Why /why not?
as always I like to find things out
Apparently it's to do with the ph of your stomach and the speed of gastric emptying plus type of beetroot, how much and how prepared. (higher ph/faster emptying, visible red colour more likely) Some drugs also seem to make it more likely.

I like to grate it raw in a salad ... That way it hasn't had an effect on my bs ... Tastes good too :-)
