Well, it seems the forum has calmed down after quite a lot of furore in the last few weeks. I would really like to know what is going on behind the scenes, as I feel there is some negative sentiment underlying how a lot of new posters and other members see the forum. If anyone (new or otherwise) has had PMs knocking this forum or the moderators, or encouraging them to join other forums, or being personally abusive, please let me know and the culprits will be dealt with. We don't have time for that kind of thing round here - too busy being the biggest online diabetes community in the UK and making sure people get as much help as possible.

I will plead guilty to giving people links to other forums - but IN ADDITION to this one as I think you can see from my PMs. Basically you will find most all forums have similar content and similar success stories, and the same small bunch of troublemakers preaching "do as you are told and eat all your carbs" often Type 1s on insulin who think that makes them superior and able to advise on diet for unmedicated Type 2s.

I will also plead guilty to recommending this forum to others elsewhere.

Yes, I think people should be aware of all the diabetes forums on the internet, read them all and take a balanced view point. I can't (and if I could I wouldn't) look at your pms, but that wasn't what I meant. Deliberately undermining the forum is my fear, and what I want to address. I'll make a list of other diabetes forums and post it as a sticky later today.

Regards,

Dan

Good notion!

Maybe I attribute too much intelligence to people but I kind of assume that if people are using this forum they will already have discovered the rest of the site, so I tend to point to links offsite. Likewise for the ADA and other forums, I might point to this one from there, assuming that their users have already seen the rest of *those* sites.

I do sometimes spot the same disruptives in different places but here it *appears* to be different individuals with the same agenda.

There's one who constantly derides low carbing on alt.support.diabetes and recommends people use the ADA forum, but curiously he never uses it himself (probably because he knows he would be banned, which happened for the third time to one of his colleagues) and even more curiously the forum users don't follow the ADA protocols either, and the success stories mirror those here except for the American numbers.
