Being on insulin one year on

Messages

I have been on insulin for about a year now. Still getting use to having to prick my finger and inject 4 times day, but hey ho, it has to be done. I was pretty poorly with ketones just before being diagnosed. First they said I was type 2 then type 1. Sugar levels have been high then drop really low. Was having hypo's around 9 times a week. Now I have about 1-2 a week but sugars at still high. Was asked to try a couple of carb free days and got ketones, so wont be doing that again! What I eat, or don't in my case has been ruled out and being diagnosed with neuropathy hasn't helped either. Hoping my levels will settle down soon, But I am determined it won't dictate my life.

Hi. Strange you got ketones with carb-free days as ketones are caused by excess sugar in the presence of ketosis (fat burn) not low sugar and reducing your carbs should have reduced your blood sugar?
