Hi, everyone.

Posted the other night, but didn't intoduce myself properly - sorry for being rude.

I'm Lynne, just diagnosed Type 2. If you read my original post you'll have seen that I was originally diagnosed a couple of years ago, given testing equipment and, for that year, had tested regularly. But a year later was told GTT not done properly. Repeat GTT showed I was not, at that point, diabetic. But a history of gestational diabetes indicated I would become type 2. After moving from London to Devon, and registering with new GP, fasting bloods of 7.7 and 7.1 show I am now type 2. But the nurse at this practice says 'no point' testing until later stages when nearing insulin dependency.

But my earlier experience showed how useful testing is. And reading your posts confirmed this, so I've contacted a couple of suppliers who are happy to supply free meters. I'm seeing the GP tomorrow about something else, and will see if he will supply equipment, and prescribe test strips.

Thank you for all your wisdom on this forum.

Lynne

Hy Lynne.

As you know, your Nurse is talking a load of rubbish. As you are seeing your GP you should ask him what he thinks of such a comment. To wait till things get worse before doing anything about it is just arrant nonsense......spitting feathers here.

Hi Lynne - You seem to be at the exact same stage that I was at nearly nine years ago. Whatever you do, please do not let the health professionals lead you down the wrong track - making you worse before you need to tak action as happened to me.

You can read my story here posted elsewhere on this forum - my experience may be useful to you!
