Well im doing well ive just been diagnosed with Bells Palsy now great isnt it lol.Went to see GP yesterday he has given me 2 lots of meds and contacted the eye clinic still waiting for em to ring me and offer an app.Anyone else here got or had similar thing ? Ive joined a BP forum
 
Sorry to hear this. I know people who have experienced this condition and they all say that it is extremely painful.
I 'll bump your post up to see if there is a fellow sufferer here.

Hi. I have had Bells Palsy twice. The first time I was 5 & the second time was when I was 12. Am 53 now so don't really remember that much about it. I know I saw a physiotherapist weekly & had to do facial exercises to encourage the muscle tone recover. Both times I recovered fully after about 8 weeks or so. Good luck & I'm sure all will be well for you.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your bells palsy. I had this around twenty years ago. I woke up one Sunday morning and thought I had a stroke. Apparently it never is cured but can lie dormant. I Could not speak and had to drink through a straw. Doctor said that there is not much they can do about it and it's never returned. However it has left me with tinnitus ( ringing in the ears). This comes and goes and can wake me sometimes. I had it for around eight weeks before it completely disappeared. I do also sometimes get a twitching nerve since the unfortunate experience. Can't offer much more except that it's apparently quite common.

Thankyou Bluetit.I just wanna get the eye sorted out and the rest i can put up with.Off to the eye clinic tomorrow morning :)

Thankyou Cath im sure it will go away in time.Im prepared for a long trot but hopefully it will be gone in up to a month or so :)

Sorry to hear that Nuthead.It sounds like you had it worse than i have i got it.I am able to eat and drink albeit at one side of my mouth.My speech is slurry its my eye that im more concerned with as its dry and gets itchy and thankfully i can go get something done tomorrow morning at the eye clinic and hopefully before it gets damaged permenantly.

Mr Chris has tinnitus (too many years of loud music) and saw the doc some years ago and was told that if it kept him awake he should try listening to BBC world service on radio to block the noises out. Very helpful!
 
Hi John, really sorry to hear about the Bells Palsy. My brother has had it twice, once when he was in his forties, and again a couple of years ago (late sixties) the gp didn't really offer anything apart from steroids and it took quite a while for it to settle down Main problem was drinking which he managed to get around by holding his lips together on the affected side. It's one of those things I think that will go at its own pace. Hope it's not too painful for you and don't forget that if it gets you down you can rely on us to try and give you a lift. :)

Am off to the eye clinic this morning and at least get something sorted about my eye and seeing the doc again next Tuesday
 
Went to the eye clinic yesterday morning and they first had me read a chart with one eye in turn blocked off i didnt do too bad with that part.Then i saw the Doctor and he prescribed me some drops and ointment.Eye drops every 3 hours or so and ointment twice per day.I tried to get an eye patch yesterday.Superdrug didnt have any in stock and Boots kinda looked at me silly as if to say whats one of those lol.Anyways a friend on facebook has suggested why not make my own.Good idea get some thin card and some string or elastic and save myself a few bob to boot.Gunna give that a go.Gotta go back to the hospital in 2 weeks time they will send me a letter.Back to the GP on Tuesday and see how things are.I think there is a slight change but i know its gunna be a long haul yet.
 
There are thousands on eBay, from 99p, including postage. There are also some very natty, stylish options too:

Never thought of that Andbreath might take a look at em.Yeah i know you arent mocking my plight.Plenty out there would though if i went out wearing a cool Eye patch but what the hell i could handle that.Id just wear it for when am at home.I need something else for outdoors.The wind and cold air plays havoc with it.I tried sunglasses yesterday while outdoors but alas the wind around them lol.

You need some cooooool wrap around shades. There are loads on eBay, some even clear lenses, which might be easier to wear in winter.

Yeah have just bought an eye patch brand new boxed to be delivered on Tuesday/Wednesday i can put up with that.Silly as it sounds i may have some googles in my old work bag some like welders wear that cover the whole of the eyes even the sides.Ill have to take a look and if i have then id rather go out looking silly and protected than have the cold wind irritate the **** outta my eye.:D
