Bendrofluethiazide

Hi. My Doctor took me off Bendroflumethiazide for blood presser today. Been on them for eight years, lots of aches and pains, in those years of pain didn't associate with the pills. Anyway one of the side affects they can course is high blood sugar and lead to diabetes.
I would like to know if anyone on here are on them? And how they feel?

I was on bendro many years ago and as its a thiazide diuretic its not a favourite when diabetes is present. If a diuretic is required I would have thought one of the loop catagory ones would be better.
If you are not 100% happy taking it, I would suggest you go back to doc and ask for something different.

Part of my anti hypertensive treatment consists of amlodipine (a calcium channel antagonist) which in part does reduce blood volume by extra peeing, so in its own way is a mild diuretic, but nothing as drastic as the bendro.
I personally think there are far better ways of controlling hypertension than a thiazide diuretic.

I have been taking Bendro for some years for high blood pressure. When I was in hospital with pancreatitis they took me off it. I was diagnosed as Type 1 4 months later and my blood pressure soared so my GP put me back on it. I don't think I've had any problems caused by it but I do get aches and pains so now I'm wondering. Think ill have a word with my GP if there is an alternative.

Yes I would look into it, I know two other people in my street that have been taken off this nasty drug. Have you looked at side effects? Also I found a forum with other people complaining about aches and pains and high sugar.

I too am on bendro also Lisinopril and Doxazozin my BP is well under control and until I saw your post I had no idea it could affect your BG.
It may also explain some of the aches and pains I get.
Next check up I will ask the Doc about any adverse effects these tablets may have on my diabetes.
Thanks for flagging this up.
John
