I’m looking for a book that will help come off sugar. I’ve been on amazon and most have some 1* reviews. I would rather take a personal recommendation from you guys on the forum. Thanks

I personally don't like the word "detox". To me it makes me think of faddy diets (rightly bit wrongly).

I highly recommend the 8 week sugar diet by Dr Michael Mosley. It gives you the science behind his diet, whether or not you follow his diet.

I have never had a sweet tooth but after I followed LCHF for a few weeks, I tried to eat one of my favourite raspberry ice lollies. It was disgusting! I was cured!

I relapsed a few times on LCHF, the carbs were calling to me and I binged on crumpets or ryvitas. I stuck with it, I no longer have cravings.

I find you are concerned about sugar, LCHF is not so much a quick short term diet, more a way of life.

I don't think that you need detoxing.
Just stop eating foods which contain carbohydrates in quantity - my own take on that is over ten percent carbs.
Do that and you'll most likely feel better - and as you are not diabetic yet, you might not need to do anything else.

I have read his book and found it very helpful. I was just looking for a bit more around the ‘moral support’ side if it. I totally get the science/anatomy/physiology side of what sugar does to your body (I now consider it poison) but still not managing to cut it out completely. I don’t want to go cold turkey and I’m not actually following Dr Mosley’s actual 8 week diet (for my own fussy dietary tastes which I’ll not go in to right now). I do follow his 5:2 fasting plan though and I’ve significantly cut down on my carbs but was just looking for something else if that makes sense.

If you '...get the science/anatomy/physiology' then you will understand that carbs are addictive. No need to go cold turkey but there is a need to break the addiction. It is not easy but it really does not take long before the palate (and the rest of the body) adjusts to a much reduced carbohydrate level.
