i was just wondering where people have had a really good holiday
i will start it off
the best holiday i ever had was in 1991 it was with my girlfriend at the time(now my wife) we spent 2 weeks going round the ring of kerry (very scenic area in ireland) in an old ford fiesta ,camping in a tent.on the second day we had to buy a new tent as we got soaked the first night.then the next day we had to replace the airbed.we watched a small 5 inch tv connected to a bus battery she couldnt miss corrie,we hadnt a clue how to cook but we muddled on.it was the first holiday away from my parents as i was only 20 .when i got back i proposed to her as i knew that i wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and we are still together 18 years later.other holidays have been great but that holiday was special
hoping to hear a few tales or your holidays thanks dermot

Probably the best holiday I have had was a trip to Australia....a competition prize I won from Foster's lager. It was in the late 80's and although the holiday was for 2 people, we scraped the money together to pay the difference to take our boys, who were then 2 and 5 years old. Two days before we were due to fly out, I got a call to say that our flight had been cancelled and we could choose to either go a day later or a day earlier and have a free stopover at a posh hotel in Singapore. Although when I took the call, our washing was still in the washing machine, by that night, it was ironed and packed and we left early the next morning. No way was I going to pass up the chance of that. We were chauffeur driven around Australia in a limousine and had a wonderful itinerary, which included a cruise on the Great Barrier Reef. No expense was spared on this holiday and although I've won quite a few holidays over the years, this was truly the trip of a lifetime. To this day, I remember arriving at one of the poshest hotels in Queensland, in our normal everyday clothes and standing in a lift full of other folks dressed in their finery and dripping in diamonds and gold jewellery and sipping cocktails, as more and more limousines pulled up outside the hotels casino. In that lift hubby and I exchanged 'what are WE doing here?' looks and we both got a fit of the giggles. It was another world....an amazing experience that we'd never have been able to afford normally and we'll probably never top that wonderful holiday.

My best holiday was 1981 i was 6 years old!
Went to butlins in skegness with my mum and her partner haley! They were all dressed up to go out,
i got dressed up just like them and put their makeup on!
Ahh good memories!

My other good holiday was valentines day 2007, My now fiancee took me to skegness, and asked my mum and partner along i did not know any of this! We stayed in butlins,
He got up on the stage at 9pm, Snow patrol, Chasing cars was playing, My favourite song, He picked up the mike the music got turned down a little!
His words were sandy please come up on the stage, I did he got down on one knee and said, The whole place went silent
We have been together for 3 years now, You are the love of my life, My heart and my soul! We are two halfs of the same person, will you marry me!
I answered yes i will i would be proud to!

Hi chocoholic,
I intend to hold onto him!
He wanted it to special. My mums face when he asked! I asked her if she knew,. she said no not a clue they were invited to attend the butlins, he knew that the place held special memories for me! And i asked me to marry him!
I still get that butterflies in my belly every time i think about it!
I never thought that anyone would do anything special like that! He made me cry for a good reason!
I love him to bits!
Sandy

2002. Flew to San Francisco. Picked up hire car and toured the Bay Area for a couple of days.
Drove to Lake Tahoe and explored the local area for a few days.
15th Oct.....GOT MARRIED!! In the woods like a couple of hippes with my best friend, her son and thier dog in attendance.
From Tahoe we drove to Lee Vining, Yosemite, Mammoth, Death Valley, Las Vegas Redlands CA, LA, Santa Barbara, up the Pacific Coast Highway to Monterey and then back to San Francisco.

We've been to the USA quite a bit, and before I met the hubster I was there alot, but that holiday was absolutely unforgetable for that one reason.

Segganwell cottages on the coast at Culzean Castle in Ayrshire, 1990 - 2009 almost every year.
Two tatty cottages with no tv, rubbish radio reception and 125 steps down from the carpark to the cottages.
But the peace is fabulous.
We first went when my children were 2.5 and 6 months old and we are going back again this year when they will be 21 and 19.
The cottages have improved over the years, the outside loo and showers have gone and the fridge now has a door that shuts but we have had so many good times there.
I feel totally relaxed as soon as the car is unloaded :D
