Hi,
Been diagnosed for over 11 years so not new at Diabetes, though some of my questions may make you think otherwise, not to old to learn though.
Just started the local gym at 61 yrs old. What would be the best smoothie/blended drink recipes to aid me in my Diabetes control/exercising regime which involves running/walking and light weight machines??
Cheers eaglet :?:

Hi eaglet if you are referring to drinks made from liquefied or blitzed fruit I would suggest you only drink them in very small quantities as it takes a lot of fruit to make a drink and it will contain a huge amount of carbs which is likely to shoot your blood glucose up to a very high level.

If you are talking about a protein drink to help build muscle through exercising I have no knowledge of these drinks so you would be better off speaking to an expert either in nutrition or a trainer with knowledge of diabetes - probably about as rare as hens teeth I'm afraid.

Sorry cant be more help other than to suggest you test whatever whole fruit drinks you try.

I agree with Sid. It bit depends on why you want to have the smoothies. If you are worried about your sugar levels going too low then a small smoothie would stop that. Other than that it's probably not the best form of drink for a diabetic; better to have the fresh fruit before it goes in the blender?
