after 10 days of great BG levels around 5-6 i was horrified to do my test before lunch to get a reading of 12, only thing i had eaten was 2 tangerines and a apple, after checking with fitness pal app it appears there was nearly 50g carbs between the 3 things :(
what should i snack on to avoid spikes, eggs, meat, dairy etc? i assume a plain greek yogurt is carb free?

Try putting the things you fancy into myfitnesspal for starters. If there's nothing there, then start going through cheese, pepperami etc. as a non-snacker, I'm not the best person to advise. Sadly fruit is diabetes' way of laughing at us.

I'm not a snacker either. I stick to my 3 meals a day and that's it. If I feel hungry, which thankfully happens very rarely, I have a drink of water. Well done on learning the lesson about fruit! Tropical fruits aren't good at all, and even apples can be bad. If you must snack, then cheese and eggs sound ideal, or a small handful of nuts.

Sadly, plain Greek yoghurt is not carb free...usually around 5g or more per 100g. Most of that is sugar ( but if you make your own there is some suggestion that by letting it 'ferment' longer the carb level may be reduced as the bacteria in the yoghurt feed on the sugar).

I've been having pepperami and cheesestrings for my snacks :)

You're a monster rofl, well I think it's funny!
I know they're probably not the most wholesome options but they're easy and low carb! They definitely help get rid of hunger pangs when they come along too :D

I eat nuts. Slowly. Just a few at a time. Or some ripe Brie/Cambozola. Or a drink of water like @Bluetit1802. Occasionally a handful of salad leaves works (it might seem a bit weird!)

I use tomato slices instead of crackers with some sort of cheese or red and yellow pepper slices/ cucumber/ celery and a low carb dip. A handful of nuts is good as well. My son is 6 ft 3 and constantly snacking so it would take more willpower than I have to resist having something with him.

My favourite snack is either brie puffs or if you're in UK the lovely carb and additive free pork cracklings like Awfully posh, dipping them in melted butter or mayonnaise.

I have blueberries .
Sometimes I have a bit of aldi dark chocolate or a fruit shortcake biscuit.
