Beware the scone!

Had a very pleasant afternoon wandering round the local garden centre, then a nice Americano with a splash of milk......thought I could chance half a plain scone (as my BS tends to dip about 3 or 4ish) but oh no ..tested at home ..11.9. There really is no rhyme nor reason to this lark sometimes :!: :?
Have to work it off by removing the bags of manure from the car,and digging it in. Good for the sinuses :lol: :lol:

There is a rhyme, there is a reason.........

One Plain Scone will contain on average around 53.8g carbs per 100g. Depending on the size of the Scone, again taking an average of say 40g per scone that means your half scone will have been 10.76g carbs. ( 53.8/100 = 0.538 x 20 = 10.76g ) With an average Americano plus Milk, brings it to say a total of 11/12g carbs.

You don't say if you tested before this snack......you assume that your Bg dips around 3-4 (is that points or time ?) As you were perhaps walking around a Garden Centre or loading up the manure ? you might well have been low and 'liver dumped' then had the snack which would probably account for the rise. Don't assume anything.......testing is the only way to know what is happening.

As for the manure........sh*t happens ! :wink:

:idea: If only you shifted the manure first then you probably wouldn't have been able to face the scone afterwards :lol:

Thanks for the response my BG's normally dip around 3pm or 4pm so I normally have a biscuit which is 12g of Carbs and 4g of sugar,which sees off the normally low BG at this time, I do test religiously about 8 times a day but thought ,for once,I'll give it a miss!
I had my normal lunch which is the same everyday....so yes ,I should have tested and of course ,scones vary greatly as to their content.....anyway the sh*t was good in the end....just hope it doesn't grow a crop of weeds like last year 8) :lol:
