I have just been on a diabetes awareness course and been given some tests strips. My BG is really high, but when I do the test strip it is coming up as really low or negative.
What am I doing wrong?

@Earthy Check the meter instructions and follow them precisely the first few times you test. It may seem obvious what you have to do but following the instructions means you know for sure you're doing things right.

Check your meter doesn't need calibrating; check you're putting enough blood on the strip; check you're putting the blood on the right place at the right time, etc.

my only other thought is the strips might be ketone testing strips?!?!?

Or the meter is configured for different units?
What makes you think the results are wrong?

As others have said not sure what you mean by low or negative results I don't think any blood test meters would give you a negative result if you're doing it properly please check and let us know thanks.

Did you already have a meter, or were you given both strips and meter? If you already had the meter, are the strips you were given compatible with it?
