Sorry for the long post.

Please can someone advise me? I have been very low carb for nearly a year now and stay around 20g per day. I do not go adrift from this. Over this time I have lost 15 kg, although it has stalled for the last four or five months.

My problem is my BG. I did fine in the beginning but the last few months I am not happy with, they do go up and down a bit. I appreciate my figures are a lot lower than a lot of people on the site but I do not feel in control of them!

Example

day 1

got up 08:49 FBG - 106, had 1 boiled egg with butter, cup of weak tea with cream - 1 hour later BG - 133. 13:30 BG still 117 lunch greek yogurt and cream.

19:30 BG still 100, had turkey fried in butter with mushrooms, tomato and 2 eggs with runner beans, 2hours later BG 96.

Next day

got up 08:20 FBG 114, had 1 boiled egg with butter and a weak tea with cream, 3 hours later BG 132. 14:30 BG still 126, 2 fried eggs, bacon and a normal tomato, 2 hours later BG 121. 20:40 BG 102 pieces of goat fried with some wine, herbs, almonds, chia seeds in a cream sauce with cabbage. Few blackberries with mascarpone, 2 hours later BG 115

Today

got up 09:00 FBG 122, piece of cheese and 2 cherry toms with a weak tea and cream. 1 hour later 146, 2 hours later 145. 14:00 BG 110, 2 fried eggs with cabbage in butter, just over an hour later BG 122

Eggs were always good so I took to having a boiled egg with butter and my tea with cream every morning, some mornings I only rose by 3 mg/dl, some nearly 30 mg/dl. We have had 4/5 days of heat but have been down in the low 20’s for 3 days now, so I would not think that is the problem. I keep going up and down in waves for no reason that I can see.

MySugr said my Hb1 was 35 - 2 weeks ago and now it says I’m 38.1.

Any thoughts, advise or comments would be helpful please

Edited to take out gobelde guk at the beginning

Converting these into mmols the range is I think 5.5 to 8. These are the tramlines I operate in and overall they are ok. If the Hba1C score is coming out below 42 then all is good but you will get fluctuations in that.
I think using the MG/Dl measure makes the swings seem larger - just a perception maybe because they are bigger numbers.
Personally I’ve learned to ride the waves.

When I got to about that amount of weightloss my BG levels started to bounce around like crazy - I think that things were freeing off and my metabolism was staggering around as though drunk - just stick to low carb foods and it ought to settle down, if mine is anything to go by you might begin to see some lower levels creeping in as things change.

Hi Rhubarb

I think you are right about the different systems and mine looking worse because they are high numbers. I know the Hba1c is ok under 42 but when you see them climb as quickly as mine have; I don't like it!

Thanks for help

Thanks Resurgam

That is re-assuring! I though my BG's were settling a bit 2 weeks ago as I had a 79 and a couple of 84's but then off they went again even higher than they had been, as you say as if they are drunk. I thought it was tea the last time it went up, so I have been only having 1 cup per day but I think I can rule out tea now, I do enjoy a cup of tea. Let's hope I follow you and it all sorts out soon. Thanks for your help.
