Just wondering if there are any other bikers amongst us?

Here are my rides:

1. 2000 Harley Superglide Sport (clicky)

2. 1993 Triumph Trident 900 (clicky)

The Triumph was meant to be my daily hack but I ride my Harley nearly all the time now.
Been on two wheels for over 20 years and I'm a member of the Assassins MCC in Manchester.

Ex biker now(Temporarily),Yamaha RD350LC 2 stroke,1987 model was my last hack and it had a pretty mad powerband for a little 350cc stroker!! Miss it loads!! Would like a lowrider such as a Harley next or if I win the lottery, maybe something custom from the Detroit Brothers in the states! :)

Yeah, I'm afraid that diabetes doesn't discriminate only to to land crab drivers.
Here's a picy of my current bike a Hinkley Triumph Trophy 1200 from Dec 99. Bought it at a year old with only a 1000 miles on the clock. It's done a few since then, Italy, Czech, Poland, Denmark, all over Germany, Swiss, Austria, France, Ireland, Scotland and my favorite England. Also numourous rallys both here & abroard. Never been in a club though. I like to go anywhere without too many questions.
In my youth I started riding a Fizzy & a Yam RD200. Promoted onto a Kawasaki GPZ 1100. I had this bkie a good while. A crackin' motor. You had to show it some respect in te bends, but on the straight that aircooled straight 4 took off like the devil was behind it. Spent money on some decent suspension and brakes and it wasn't too bad. Loved the fuel injection, worked well.
Looking to take a trip to Italy sometime soon. The Triumph is still as reliable as the day I bought it, hence I still have it, although a little greedy if you give it a little twist now and again. Sorry can't find picy small enough to upload!

Hi Neil and Paul! :D

Cor, I remember the RD's. A couple of mates of mine had 200s and 350s. Went like rockets as I recall.
I never really got on with 2-strokes. Something about the electrical field not liking me, it seemed.

I started off with an MZ ES125 with a 250 head on it. After it got nicked from outside a mate's house I drove all the way to Wales to get another one. Don't know why...

Then it was a KH125 followed by a CG125 4-stroke. Cracking bike and I passed my test on that.

Then the obligatory Superdream 250 that I seemed to take apart and rebuild every weekend. Bloody awful machines but I learned a lot about bike mechanics with it!

Then it was my first larger twin, a CB500T with cam followers that seemed to be made of cheese they were so soft.

Then the old XV750 came along. I stripped it down one day to cure a leak from the base gasket and never got around to putting it together again for years. Just gave it away to a club member recently.

The Harley came along at the right time at the right price a few years ago, I wasn't really looking for one but its lack of chrome (all the cases are crinkle-black) and unbelievable torque were a couple of things that made me fall for it. It doesn't really look too Harley-ish and I'm really not into the whole Harley fanboy scene.

I bought the Triumph shortly after as a daily hack but it's really quite thirsty, especially around town so it might be going soon. I expect I'll replace it with a Bandit perhaps for the daily grind during the colder months.

Good to hear from you both too. 8)

Mine's a VFR 800 Vtec. We have a boy's ride out each year. Year before last we ended up about 20 miles short of Poland, then went down towards Dresden for the east german world superbikes meet. Pxxxxd with rain the entire trip! Keeping our trips shorter now. Still like Assen.
Had a Velocette viper 350cc single as a lad. First bike was when I was 13, rode it round farmers fields!

Hi don't actually ride myself but have been a passenger on bikes since I was 15 and love them. Have just bought my husband a brand new Suzuki GSX 1250 fa with all the luggage looking forward to doing the whole touring.

Hi Steve! :D

I did my Part 2 lessons on a CG125(pretty smooth bikes as I remember) and passed my test on a Yamaha RXS100 which was pretty nippy for a 98cc single cylinder 2 stroke,I then had a Honda CB250RS single cylinder, air cooled,no frills, kick start(which was a killer if your foot was wet!) and I had to keep having the top end rebuilt as I kept getting issues with the cam chain and tensioner which sounded like a skeleton when it started to fail! I remember the Superdream too, that was the twin cylinder, electric start model Honda 250 wasn't it?
I had a yammie XJ550 for a little while too, until my mate blew it up for me at Long Marston!! Then I had the RD350 and had it 12 years 'til I had to raise some cash urgently and flog it!

Like my bikes old, used to have a Honda 450 chopper from -67. Now I've got a Harley 750 (the small side valve) from -47 with gear stick and foot clutch. While riding the Honda was like trying to rein in a teenager, this one is like sitting in grandpa's lap -comfy! :)

Suzuki DL650 Wee Strom K5
Which was in perfect working order until I got hit by a car this morning on the way to work .. I tried to fly but gravity won .. bike will probably be written off ( the drivers Passat has already been ! ) .

How the mighty has fallen - 60 years on bikes - yes 30 of the biggest and the best - BSA's Shooting Star, Flash, etc - good old Ariel Huntmaster with double adult sidecar when the first addition came along - oh they were the days. NOW - why have I fallen? - I drive/ride a Honda Vario (automatic) now here in Bali and have recovered the price (from new) in just 9 months by not using taxis as much. The Honda is a great, versatile and very fast (80km) scooter (don't tell anyone) and low on consumption. I started with a 98cc 1923 Excelsior so perhaps have turned full circle ha ha ha. The best thing though is that all this experience has helped me so much to stay alive in a country which has the highest death rate (after Vietnam) for motorcyclists. Yes, if I could afford to import a new Triumph, I would but it would be stolen a few minutes later. Stay safe all of you.

Indonesia is a death-trap for motorcyclists. Had my first and last experience as passenger on motorbike weaving through centre of Jogjakarta (Central Java) in a thunderstorm. Can't remember the model -- don't want to think about it. Never again -- safer to binge on chocolate.
Where are you on Bali? Anywhere near Peliatan? I played gamelan there in my ill-spent youth...

Hi Stevolution and everyone else.

I ride a Honda CB1300 & also a VFR750. I tour various parts of Europe every year and this year am doing Andalucia again. I've been riding for the last 35years and in that time have had numerous bikes. I started my biking career on a Honda SS50 back in the 70's then a Suzuki GT250. Since then I've had so many I've lost count. I'm really lucky because my missus loves the bike so every annual holiday is a touring one. We always call for a coffee and a cake at least once a day somewhere on our tours, I guess this year it will just be a coffee for me.

Ride safe

Ian

Dear Desidiabulum,

I started on the same island as you - Java - and lived in Bogor one and a half hours by car west of jakarta and then Banyuwangi extreme east and south of Surabaya. Had a holdiday on Bali and was persuaded to buy a house in Sanur, Denpasar. Have used one of the most dangerous roads in Indonesia, i.e., Sanur to Gillimanuk for the ferry to Java but used a car for this - every journey I saw lorries into ravines and m/cycles up in trees or under lorries. You were so lucky not to have driven into a rain-filled hole during that trip - 50% motorcyclist die that way - the rest through outrageously extreme risk-taking. As for Paliatan and the Palace at Ubud - only tourists do not know what is in store these days (the small and very narrow roads are blocked completely by traffic from morning to night) - the community leaders and Regent just do not know how to deal with the nightmare so I stay away these days.

Thanks for the question - takes our minds off other problems - yes?

Is that the Indian scout model?
Hi Paul,
the Indian is a different brand. The model name of this kind of Harley is WL if you want to look it up :)

If you want to see just about every bike every made from around the world then go to the Isle of Man TT Races, it took me about 6 hours to walk the full length of the promenade due to stopping to look at every bike :)
