Bit confused about the high fat thing

Thanks Phoenix, I've read that one before, a reputable source! Harvard! They say the same as all the others, eat olive oil, walnuts, salmon, keep butter, cheese etc to a minimum.
A good read for those of us confused about diet.

Thank you, it was really puzzling me! Great to know I can enjoy a coffee again, with cream, I used to make it with all milk

Did you notice the references in @phoenix 's article?
Some went back to the 80s.
Most were the 90s and the 00s, and there was only one from 2012.

That is not recent research.

It's from Harvard I don't care what era it's from. Are you a doctor? Health professional? Nutritionist? No? Ok I'll take my advice from Harvard thanks.

We advise from our own results. Try looking up southport gp postings and the most up to date findings he has found from research on his patients.

Yes, he is a medical professional and his research is up to date.

Research moves on. Wherever you look, you must look at the dates of the research. No doubt some reputable universities recommended curing ailments with leeches and bleeding at one time!

"Southport gp" v Harvard. Are you having a laugh??? "The world renowned "Southport" wow.

Yes Bluetit, fair comment.

Try looking up southport gp postings

.

Not that I asked for your input but thanks, did just that. Found "A very poor paper" and "It really is a bad paper". Was that supposed to help?

Why did this issue get opened again? I thought everyone was happy?

So why are you asking us? We only have experience and knows what work for us. By all means stick with out-dated research if you feel that is where you want to go. I prefer to stay healthy.

If you actually are interested in research on saturated fats and other things related have a look at Dietdoctor: http://www.dietdoctor.com/science

The post is still open to comment from persons wishing to address your postings.

I find your responses quite abrupt and offensive to be honest.

I'm happy. I've never been as healthy in my life as I am now since I ditched the outlandish idea that a high carb/low fat diet is healthy.

Why do people keep sticking their noses in???? The thread is pretty much finished .....got the answer I needed two pages ago!

Agree with you nocrbs4me, not keen on the idea of high carbs at all

You don't get to control what people say on a thread, even if you made the first post.

That's half the fun.
The other half is the information exchange, banter and discussion.

If you don't want to read it, there is an 'unwatch thread' button somewhere.

Which fats do you think are the best for lowering blood glucose levels?

Saturated or polyunsaturated?

If I said to you I do low carb and I don't eat butter or cheese. But I still have full fat yoghurt and I eat and cook in natural fats.

My own experience is that low fat is just sugar and sugar is really bad for me!
If someone advised me to eat low fat, I would ask them why, as they would make me hypo!
If someone in medicine advised me to cure a hypo by giving me high glucose or glucagon that would make me so poorly, a stay in hospital is a certainty.

The fat I need to sustain my healthy life doesn't come from what Harvard recommmends. The southport GP has done the research and in most cases more fat means better figures.
As in another thread the head of the education of diabetic patients NOW recommmends high fat or full fat if you like. My life would not be worth living if I was still eating low fat.

It is up to you but test, test, test, do a food diary and check it out yourself.

We have the actual experience on this forum!

Well after two weeks of your posting, you must be an expert now! So no worries that many of us have just been trying to pass on good knowledge and advice gained over many, many decades.

Posters can still post despite your thinking you have the answers, so I hope that you may be a bit more mindful with your responses.

Can we please keep this thread civil.

We can all manage our diabetes how we like, there is no right or wrong way.

Sniping at each other disrupts the thread and nobody gains anything.

Please PM if you want to argue.

Apologies if you believed I was offending, there was no intention!

Didn't want to criticize anyone pal. Only looking to learn. Have learned what I needed.
