Sure, but based on what, besides imagination?I'd imagine they just apply to all diabetics regardless of type or bg control.

Thanks; that's useful. Maths was never my strong pointYour HDL must be 0.65mmol/l
(4/0.65=6.1)
The UK target for HDLis I think is above 1mmol/l.

One says twit the other says twoo.
Sorry.
Thanks, that's useful too. I think these two posts give me an idea of the things I should take into account when deciding about statins. It is Phoenix, here are the target cholesterol levels that they want people with diabetes to aim for:
- Your total cholesterol level should be below 4.0mmol/l.
- LDL levels should be less than 2.0mmol/l.
- HDL levels should be 1.0mmol/l or above in men and 1.2mmol/l or above in women.
- Triglyceride levels should be 1.7mmol/l or less.
You would have to make your own mind up there, those are the levels that they want people with diabetes to aim for, whether you do or not is an individual choice.
Right, and they also tell us to eat massive amounts of carbs and that eating fat will have a negative impact on our lipids and make us fat.
Not making a song and dance of anything - just asked a question hoping for a thoughtful response. Guess I won't get one.Just do what you do, no need to make a song & dance about it, the OP was looking for advice on the their cholesterol, hence why I posted the target cholesterol figures for people with diabetes.
