Hi, have just been browsing the site as having trouble with sore edges to my eyelids and slight crustiness around the lashes. Had this before Christmas and got eye drops from the doctor. He did mention that it could be the start of blepharitis. I am Type 1 but this is the first time in my life I have ever had this sort of prob (I am a 50 la la lady so that may have some bearing). Have been carefully bathing my eyes night and morning but wondered what the next step may be. I have an appointment next week to see GP but some people with first hand experience? Also any supplements or dietary changes that have helped with it?

Search Bletharitis and related eye disorders on this Forum - I am an occasional sufferer and was given great help and advice from Catherine and various links she provided. I have looked back thro 'My Posts' to help you but DUK appears to have only retained four pages which do not contain the period my interest was discussed.

Bletharitis is incurable but do not let that worry you because it subsides for long periods - my only advice would be for you to continue as you are doing but take great care (when only one eye seems to be affected at times) not to carry the infection across to the other.

With best wishes,

Rob

Football. Bad manners.
If you put the word into an ebay search you'll come up with lots of eye wipes, lotions and sterile pads from reputable suppliers, if you can't get such things on prescription.

The real annoyance for me with it is that leaving my contact lenses out helps, particularly with the associated "dry eye", but then I can't see the computer properly. Now I wear my lenses until about 17.00 (when I stop for the day and switch the TV on) then take them out and use glasses for the evening.

It is incurable, as BaliRob said, but most of the time it's no trouble. As soon as I see the first sign of the crusty bits I go back to the eye wipes etc which calms it down again. It's really eye hygiene, I suppose.
