Hi all I might be mistaken or just fed up with mine, but I found this site due to being diagnosed Diabetic Type 2 & I have high BG levels! I have been testing using the monitor recommended and vary between 8 (very good for me) and 15 now depending on the time of day. I just can't understand why there are some new joiners that come on here asking if 5 is good or bad? And also just asking for dietary advice, ie just starting on a low carb diet?

Hi again jal, I'm not sure if you received the dietary advice when you joined so I'm tagging @daisy1 again. Try not to get despondent about levels, it can take some time, and we are all individuals so try not to make comparisons between yourself and others. Have you made adjustments to your diet? Perhaps if you give us some examples, ie a day's menu plan, we can make some suggestions that might help?

The main reason is that they are new and are totally ignorant of how to tackle the condition. Not many that find this forum have been given the knowledge of how to treat it with low carb. Many are totally confused because the trust they have been giving to doctors and dsns, I was typically advised by numerous health care professionals to make sure I have my good carbs and complex carbs. Not once in ten or more years of continuous visits did I get the message that carbs are causing my problems.
It was only after I saw a dietician that seen I was struggling, advised me to have a look at the low carb forum. I had no idea about hypers, spikes, hypos, blood glucose levels, hba1c, etc.
It wasn't until I had read the great knowledge on this forum, that I started to educate myself on how to gain real control and get a grip on my blood glucose levels.
Many hundreds find this site every year, many thousands don't!
Not many GPs get it right with diabetes!

Thanks for your replies, Ladybird64 I did receive the original info from Daisy and I have been very interested in lots of the info on this site ever since joining just over a month ago so thanks for your help. Nosher8355 thanks for your reply, but I`m more referring to people that have a level of 4 or 5 when joining this site and then ask on here if its an ok reading? o_O

There are those of course who do have a problem with low blood glucose levels. It's called Hypoglycaemia. Then what I think you are alluding to is the ones who are normal and think they are diabetic. Anyone can live normally that low.
My normal range is between 3.8 and 6.0 (ish)!
You do have to be just as careful how you respond because they sometimes won't believe you nothing is wrong. Or they have symptoms of diabetes, many and varied, which is probably something else different. Because the bloods say so.
Everybody should be treated the same and not be judged.
But the good news is, low carb works for most.
