Hi I am trying to get tested for Diabetes but gp is refusing, my symptoms are:

Testing own Blood Glucose after fasting 7.4mmol/L
Constantly Lethargic
Falling asleep for no reason during day
Blood sugars after two hours after eating drop to 4.8mmol/L

The only way a diagnosis can be made is at your doctor's surgery. The reasons are that home equipment is far from accurate and we are not doctors. Having said that, you fasting level is a little high, if accurate, but the 4.8 is normal.

When I say that home equipment is inaccurate I have encountered meters that read as much as 1.3 high but never one that reads low.

Ant thirst or constant toilet visits?

I am confused as ot why a GP would refuse it the symptoms are there...

Only a doctor can diagnose diabetes, so if you're still having concerns it would be best to go back and ask about further investigations. As you've mentioned feeling lethargic, then that could be due to a number of conditions - or just life sometimes!

Did your doctor do any blood tests to rule out other common conditions that might cause tiredness?

The post meal 4.8 seems odd for a diabetic but whether it is diabetes or not your GP should be trying to find out what is causing your symptoms, not just dismissing you! Is there a different doctor you could see maybe?

Hi, you could always try Lloyds pharmacy, I believe they still do bg tests and will refer you to your GP if high and this makes it more difficult for him to ignore it. Your pp reading is very good though.
