Following on from my hypo on thursday morning, I have been testing my blood levels alot more to be on the safe side.morning fasting has been around 6,s but this morning was in the 5,s. Not worried about those. I have noticed my levels pre meal have been between 4.3 and 5. These are lower then normal. Should I be worried, I feel ok

These are absolutely great numbers Ally and if you are feeling well it would suggest that the newer medication together with your lower carb eating style is working really well

To most of us those those would be wonderful figures. Brilliant in fact. I bet you can't believe the difference between now and how you used to be when you were struggling. It is a wonderful improvement. You just need to be careful not to go too low and hypo again. Keep those glucose tablets in various places round the house and in your bag.

I still think you need to discuss matters with your nurse. Does she know you have improved your diet?

Yes the nurse does know about my improved diet. I was getting a little worried that the 4,s were a bit low, so just wanted to post to reassure me

Great results there Ally - well done!

Ally - If you can maintain those numbers, without the hypos, then I would think your next HbA1c would be a personal best.

Go girl!

@ally1 you are doing brilliantly.

I'm often in the mid 4's during the day, so it should not be an issue for you so don't worry.

It just shows you are getting good control and should be congratulated on your perseverance and hard work

It's been hard work over the past 2 years. I did once get my 6 month blood test in the 6,s but went down hill after that. Am trying so hard as I would to get off the metformin and victoza

Sounds like you're well on your way. YAY

I have to ask....are you smoking again? Every time I quit my numbers jump. I'm still smoking. Enough on my plate right now. Maybe some day....

Hi @ally1 those pre meal readings are great. I'm very happy when I see those numbers and feel OK.You're obviously making really good progress. Hope you cam keep it up.

I have the odd few aday, when I gave up completely that's was when my levels went up and went of the rails with my eating. It's about 5 aday from 40 aday

I wish I had your will power. I'm an all or nothing person.
I actually had a few Drs tell me quitting is like removing an organ. I believe it as I have smoked most of my life. It's used to it.

Kristin, have you considered vaping? I quit tobacco a year ago and have not had 1 cigarette since. My doctors are very happy. All of them have said that nicotine by itself is no worse than caffeine but all the other chemicals are deadly. I started with a strength of 18mg which is recommended for a pack a day smoker and I am now down to 6 mg. Also I smell better lol. Someone who had just smoked a cigarette came into my house the other day and holy cow. After they left I asked my daughter in law if that is what I had smelled like and she said yes. Another upside is that this is way way way cheaper. Also no weight gain or withdrawal or ugly cravings

Have t tried it but funny thing is there is a vape store 3 units down from where I work. As far as smelling, I smoke Virginia super slims. A box half the size of regualr and hold 20. People are shocked when I tell them I smoke. They say I never smell NOT AN EXCUSE. I just have to ready. Not ready yet. But great option when the time comes.

What I found, and my hubby and me quit the same day, was there had to be no smokes in the house. You can't do both, it does not work. I hope you give it a try when you are ready. Also decent equipment, the cheap stuff will frustrate you into smoking again. Best bet is to find someone who vapes and have a hands on look and taste from someone who is not trying to sell you something.
