My normal blood pressure reading is around 110/80 but the past few days it has crept up, this morning reading between 147/80 to 154/78. My weight is good, my glucose control good- normally everything is good.!
I take metaformin 1/2 a tablet 3 times a day, and a 100mg asprin once a day

The first thing to do is check that you haven't lapsed into bad habits whilst taking the readings and make doubly sure that you are following the guidelines.

Also, what kind of meter are you using? Wrist readings can be notorious.

Are you taking the readings at the same time that you did when they were lower? The reason I ask is because blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day.
Try resting for 20 minutes and then take it and see what results you get. If it is still high then I would see your Dr. as it is too high

I often find when taking other people's blood pressure that it is worth waiting for 20 minutes whilst they relax before I do it again.

It is a wrist machine, the type the Dr said my husband was to get (he had VERY high pressure, 258/178 ) How he never had a stroke I do not know!! He was checked in the pharmacy and they refused to let him leave, I had to get the car and bring it to the door and take him straight to the emergency Dr. He was on medication/heart machine within 3 minutes of arriving there!
I have made an appointment at the Dr for tomorrow. I have been under a lot of stress about a voluntary organisation I help at, I am sure that is what has got me all worked up, I have been having palpitations too- :p Being a volunteer can be a pain at times!!!

Wrist BP monitors are not that accurate. Also, take readings sat down, after relaxing for a while. No 2 readings will be the same. Can vary as much as +-20 either way in minutes. A few days high readings is nothing to worry about, you'd need at least a weeks readings before a doc would take any notice. There are some fairly cheap arm monitors on Amazon. Omron is a decent make fairly reasonably priced.

Yes indeed, I was advised to stay well clear of the wrist bp monitors and buy the arm-cuff ones instead.

If I were you I'd take on board what everyone has said about taking your bp and record all your readings in a diary (you should have one that came with the monitor), in a few weeks time make an appointment with your gp and discuss your bp readings.....especially if they continue to creep up, if he suggests bp meds then it's not the end of the world as it's better to control bp than let it continue to rise and run the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

My own gp goes off my home readings and is quite happy to record them in my notes.
