had a hot today shower sugar was 11.4 before i went in after got out of shower shot up to 16.0 has anyone else has this issue

Hi @static192 Not from a hot shower, had a hot bath drop my BG levels in the past, it would suggest something else is going on, so illness/infection, wrong bolus calculation, change of insulin etc.

Coincidentally I'm also suffering a high (though not as bad) after just having a shower!

How long was your shower? If you are on a pump, lack of insulin could cause or contribute to the problem, which would be worse the longer you were in there. If not, it's probably unrelated to the shower

Our meters are within +/-15% accuracy.
I am not sure if this means each reading is out by the same amount in the same direction or that every single reading could be out by a different amount. I suspect there is some variance with test strips on the same meter.

I mention this because, at higher levels, 15% is quite a lot.
Looking at the readings you have, if the "true value" was 14mmol/l, your before and after shower readings are pretty close to 14mmol/ - 15% and 14mmol/l + 15%.

In other words, within the tolerance of most meters, there may not have been much change in your BG.

Did it drop back down real fast? Mine's always up for 15 minutes or so after a hot bath/shower, so I just don't test anymore in that timespan and ignore whatever my Libre says.

hey guys it did seem like it droped back to like 12mmols after a bit im not sure if my meter was playing up or did it drop back lol

It could be a blood pressure issue. BP tends to drop after a warm bath because the capilliaries in the skin open up and blood has less restriction. This may affect a fingerprick test site too.

I am on BP meds, and I would often feel dizzy when I stood up suddenly, especially when getting out of a hot bath, Also feel a bit weak for a while. When this happens from just standing up, then I know it is time to lower my dose or drop the diuretic.

Yes I've seen a rise after a bath both with finger prick tests and a Libre sensor, There have been a number of other discussions about this on the forum, so you may like to do a search for them?
