Hi desperate for help. I bought a freestyle libre started using it today and my blood sugar has dropped to 3.0 just about every hour. If I go to my docter now should he listen to me or will he say stop testing?

Well firstly the libre can be incredibly inaccurate when showing under 5, you really need to verify with an actual blood test when it shows under 5.
Secondly low blood sugar is not a symptom of diabetes, though it can be caused by other things.
Also high 3's/low 4's can easily happen in non-diabetic people anyway I believe.

I am in the low 3s every day morning. However, a fingerprick will tell me I am in the 4s. You have to know the line's little foibles.

Thankyou for your reply. Oh dear Sounds like I've wasted my money then. It was costing so much with the finger prick thought it would save money. I was thinking I might have reactive glicemia or somthing. Just tested again and it says 2.0. Hope I can send it back

I think you have thought that you could have a condition related to Hypoglycaemia.

I advised youto get a referral to a specialist endocrinologist who has experience with Hypoglycaemia.
You get all the symptoms and your fasting and hba1c blood glucose levels are normal, you are non diabetic but you get similar symptoms to diabetes.

I believe you need the tests to get a true diagnosis.

Keep safe

I asked to be referred to a endocrinologist so the docter sent him a message about me and he replied saying he didnt need to see me as my glucose tolerance test didnt show worrying numbers. I'm so desperate to drive again just wish someone could help me

I can't remember if you had a two hours test or an extended OGTT.
If he based his opinion on a two hour test then it wouldn't show the blood levels on the graph going into Hypoglycaemia.

If you have read the forum, this is why I ask those who believe they have Hypoglycaemia to keep a food diary, then you can show your doctors what happens.

Is this the first 24 hours of using it? If so it is notorious for giving low readings, mine ALWAYS does. I recall my Consultant looking at the readings online saying 'Oh, you don't eat carbs every other Wednesday'. I did not have a clue what he was on about until I realised that was the day I changed my sensors and the readings were always low for 24 hours or so. Yes, back it up with some finger prick tests and remember the libre is around 15 minutes behind blood readings. It could be a dud of course but after 24 hours (if it perks up) you will find it invaluable for trends. Either way you CAN contact the company for a free replacement. x
