Well this is odd. My blood sugar is ussually alright but since tuesday afternoon it's a been a in it's 20's and occasionally HI when i get stressed it always makes my blood go high and sometimes i take a while to process something. The only thing that happened on tuesday was whilst cycling i got hit by a car i didn't fall off as i put my foot down in time but it caused me to knock the drivers wing mirror in hard and a lot of straches on my bike. I dunno if your still meant to stop when this happens (As that driver went off annoyingly). If he stopped (which i thought he would of done because i think i broke is wing mirror). if he stopped i would off stop but as he went off and my bike was still working I couldn't really stop as it was a after a junction and before a roundabout. So it got a lot busier plus their were railings on the pavement. (If anyone knows the law on this please say so next time i know because i know if you get hit and fall off your supposed to stop but if you get hit but no one gets hurt or falls off are you still meant to stop?). I just can't stop thinking about last tuesday. So could my blood sugar be related to this?

Hi @Lulu9101112 ,

The basic action regarding a collision with another road user is you should stop, (or where it is safe to do so, avoiding further possible hazards.)

Moving on to your BS levels. Could you remind us what insulin/s you use/regime you're on?
Could be a duff basal? Have you tried changing your cartridge to a fresh one?

Yeah i get that but the other driver went off. ( thought he was going to stop to check his mirror/car damage as or at least say something but didn't and didn't get his number plate. But the thing is if his mirror is damaged It most likely end up getting reported anyone and if he lied then it's like one word against one. Unless the shop opposite or bus back a few cars caught anything. .

Novo rapid and lantus. That's the insulin i use

I'm pretty confident you will not get prosecuted for the damage. (Whoever was to blame.) ;)

Your Lantus. When did you last change the cartridge? Are you comming to the end of it, or possibly 2/3rds half way through it??

yeah i've got around 3 more days left in it.

I take Lantus myself.
Discard what you have left. Put a fresh cartridge in your pen for the next dose due & keep a close eye on the BG.

I'm hazarding a guess yer Lantus has gone off..

Let us know how you get on.

Definitely rule out gone off insulin by changing cartridges but...
stress does put blood sugars up.
So if you're worrying about the accident then it could be causing blood sugar issues? (And it sounds as though it was very traumatic so it could well be causing stress)

Not sure whose fault the accident was, but the driver should have stopped after hitting you. (A cynical person would assume it was their fault, as I bet they would have stopped if they thought it was yours.) Hopefully you weren't hurt. (Whiplash injuries???). I will be (very) charitable and hope that the driver didn't realise that they hit you. (If they did realise, they should have stopped, as you could have been injured). In any case, there's nothing you could do given that the driver didn't stop.

In any case, if it's stress your blood sugars should recover as you become less traumatised. Lots of virtual hugs, try not to let the bad behaviour of one driver get to you.

Hi Lulu and I hope your blood sugar has come down because highs are horrible. As well as 'off' basal insulin and stress (only you can assess your own reaction to the accident and its aftermath), being pre menstrual or having any injection site lumps and bumps will impede your absorption of insulin.
Last Saturday I spent all day worrying about why my Bgs were averaging 25 and thinking of complicated reasons why this might be only to discover a school girl earror of failing to plug in my pump whilst getting dressed post shower.

Still continue to take corrections with NovoRapid if you know how. and keep an eye in your blood sugar readings every 2 hours. Drink plenty of fluids.

I can't influence you on how much insulin to take as that is dangerous

Yeah it's on my mind but i got a helmet camera recently. I didn't fall off but he hit my arm shoulder. But my shoulder and side of arm (and small bit of neck) has been aching only realised this on thursday during my work experience but cant tell if it's because of that or my condition (hypotonia low muscle tone). I would of though he realised hit hit me as i knocked his wing mirror in. I did try to catch up to him to get his number plate but as he sped off i lost him at the next roundabout.

(My local police department has road incidents online reports with evidence and without evidence. Before i wasn't sure if their was any evidence and filled out the one without evidence (at least they have it on record incase 1. He gets pulled over because his wing mirror is damaged etc.. 2. He causes another accident and i realise their could be evidence as their was bus a few cars back and a shop right opposite and a few motorbikes behind me and also theirs been quite a few recent accidents with cyclists and motorbikes. i've had quite a lot of close calls in the last month. i dunno mabye my helmet camera will make a difference.

Maybe, It is the last month that counts apparently. Onwards and downwards though!

Review the film footage from the device. You may have captured the driver's number after all...? ;)
I said recently meaning only got it yesterday i didn't have it on tuesday because my previous one i left at my old house and broke

Also can pain affect your blood sugar? because i've recently noticed i've had bit of pain along with aches and stretches make it worse and cause bones to click. in my left shoulder/small bit of arm.

Yes, pain can cause your bg to rise.
Unfortunately there are many things which affect our bg: food, sickness, drugs, pain, alcohol, time of day, month, year, exercise, ... and often a combination of a few of these at the same time. For example, if you are in pain, you may be taking pain killers and exercising less than usual.
