Please say hi to your hubby, it must be worrying and confusing , and don't forget we are here for you :So my meter is going to be my best friend for a while now, isn't it?
I have never used it regulary, just this last week as I knew by my sight that something was wrong.
I don't understand why eating some fruits can be wrong but am willing to try.
I have had increased thirst this last week, and only grapes seem to quench it.
Is there a minimum number of carbs I should be aiming for?
Will have to do lots more reading.
Sooo good to see you back .. Grapes and melon .. Not to good the berrys are good .. Blue, rasps, strawberry.. All ok in small amounts .. Try to think out side the box with food ... So think of a world without bread .. Pototes .. Rice .. Cereals ..Oats and pasta .. Ditch all low fat food and replace with full fat ones ...
Then the fun starts ...
Wander around the Internet for on line shopping at the supermarkets .. Or just wander around the supermarket.. Read the small print at the back of the packets .. Look at the total carb content .. Keep this as low as possilable for the foods you buy .. Don't worry where it says x amount sugar .. Carbs are going to turn to sugar as soon as you eat them!
I have found a small cheese biskets is low in carbs and I can have 5 of these for lunch with chease .. And pickles or a cuppa soop .. But you need to see the carb content first ... Better if yiu cook your own soup .. Just spread lots of veg in a veg stock .. Then poor into a cup .. To make it look diffrent it can be puréed and dip your chease cracker in.
As you get into the low carb high fat diet your sugar levels should come down and you will have lots more enegy .. As your weight comes down you will be able to exercise more.. Music playing as you do the house work .. Dance along that will work just as well as going to the Jym.
You can do this .. You are NOT a dustbin ... You are going to take controll now ..
I was 21st .. Never moving off the sofa .. Eating anything (veggie) Now I have LCHF diet I have lost almost 5st .. Feel great .. As the wife dances to the house work I am able to chop wood for the fire .. Bring in the coal .. Walk the dogs .. Help around the house.
Do I still miss carbs a year on .... YES .. I do .. But do I want to eat them ... NO .. Not going back to my old eating ..
The rest of the family will not hurt for following this eating plan .. So cook the same for them .. It's not a diet it's a new way of eating
Hope this helps
Berries are usually fine, but again in small portions not whole punnets. A raspberry would be a nice thirst quencher. A small child size apple may also be OK. Tropical fruits and fruit juices are not wise, but could be tested if you wish.
The lower the carbs the better. How many is up to you. Your meter will eventually show you how many your body can tolerate. Personally I currently have between 50 and 60g a day, sometimes less than 50 but never more than 60. Other people have less, some have more. We are all different.

Thata girl, well done :He is at work at the moment, but thank you. I will pass on your message.
He does worry, I know but is determined to help me. He has had a lot of time off work due to my anixety, so I really need to be well so he can go to work. I am sure, with the right diet and weight loss, I will feel much better.
Scottie, another good book is called 'Carbs and Cals' - just full of photos of foods and meals with carb, protein, calorie and fat content.
When looking at food labels go for things with less than 10g carbs per 100g if possible, and avoid low-fat, fat-free or 'lite' options, they usually have added sugar - and fat is good!
