I have not been diagnosed with diabetes but it does run in my family so I have had a finger prick tester for some time.

recently, on waking, my levels are between 6.7 - 7.9 - is this high? Depending on what you read it varies.

maybe this will help - see the table ;) I'd say the values are high for someone without diabetes ... assuming you are not on some medication for other things that may increase blood glucose values.

Hi @Nelly_Belly , welcome to the forum!
Those numbers are a bit on the high side for a non diabetic but not alarmingly so.
If I were in your shoes I'd make an appointment to get a blood test to check your hba1c, which tells you something about your average blood glucose over the past 3 months.

Good luck!

Relatively high, but some people just do run a little high in the morning without immediately being diabetic or prediabetic. Antje is right, a HbA1c would tell you a lot more. I'd arrange one asap so you know whether you need to take further action or not. Either way, if you need help, let us know. We're right here.
