I am struggling with keeping my blood sugar regular and have tried various medications. Metformin didn't agree with me, tried dapagliflozin but eventually it upset my bladder although did help along with glicazide. Now just on 80mg of glicazide but putting on weight (which I don't need) and blood sugars raised. Take creon with every meal and still have tummy issues too.
What medications do others use? Any ideas, suggestions welcome!

Hi - I can't help you personally as I've no experience with taking medication. It strikes me you might get more replies to your post if we were to move it into the T2 forum - your description says T2 but you've posted in a T3c forum. Are you OK with that?

Have you been tested to see how much insulin you are producing? My (limited) understanding is that the T3c folk are insulin deficient, so logically (I stress I am not a doctor) it would help to know how much insulin you are producing before you ask about medication. Are you seeing a hospital endocrinologist?

There aren't that many T3c folk here so you may have to wait a while to get a response, Honestly, I think your best bet is to get a referral to a hospital endocrinologist, as some GPs can be a little out of their depth if you aren't a standard T2. (My apologies for stating the obvious if you are already seeing one for your diabetes.)

And as far as weight gain goes, as a slightly insulin resistant T1 I control my weight by low carbing, but I have the option of adjusting my insulin to my food intake, and I freely admit that I have no idea how compatible that is with creon use and EPI.

Good luck

If you haven’t already seen one, a chat with an endocrinologist would help clarify your situation. I was (eventually!) diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis which results in poor production of insulin and also has a very significant impact on the digestion of food and in gaining nourishment from it. In my case I’d also lost a very significant percentage of body weight though thanks to Creon I’ve now regained most of it. I would suggest that that if you are seeking to shed weight you might do well to reduce your carb intake, though it would be well worthwhile discussing this with a diabetes dietician which is what I did a few years ago, she gave me calorie targets based on my weight and height.
Now I’m on multiple daily injections of insulin I find control is fairly easy as I can adjust insulin to cope with the carbs in a meal. I don’t think that the label of Type 3C really makes a significant difference to how anyone manages their diabetes as it really only explains what caused the diabetes.
