Time lapse in the ambulance arriving and again when checking in at hospital will explain the differential in the bg readings, you can test your bg seconds apart and get two different readings, not heard of cold hands effecting bg readings but temperature does effect bg meters, most won't work in cold temperatures and will come up with an error message to tell you so.
