Can anyone help me understand my results please?

Before lunch my bg was7.1,then after 2 hours it was 7.3. At dinner time my bg was 6.2 then after 2 hours it was 7.0.
Is that good or bad? Inknow it shouldnt be above 2mmol after food but does still stand even if sugars are high beforehand?
My fasting blood sugar was 6.7.

I have cut out mostly carbs , and follow a low carb diet, under 70 carbs a day.

Thanks

On the one hand, that isn't much of a rise, which is a good thing, but they are a bit high to begin with. Any medication? Is it possible to reduce carbs a little further? What are you eating?

Hi , not on any medication. Only been low carbing for few weeks. My fbg was over 9 at diagnosis last month. Mostly eating eggs, above ground veg, tinned tuna or salmon etc. How low should my sugars be? Around 6 in morning. Are they pretty bad at the moment?

Those numbers are now in the safer zone. NICE guidelines say before food 4-7 and 2 hours after food under 8.5 but some would say they are quite generous and if you can do better why not?

Early days, keep going and the starting figures will continue to fall week by week.

Thanks, i was just gona post and say that nhs and nice say 4-7 before and under 8.5 after 2 hours so my results are good. Thank you all for replying. I am going to try reducing carbs even further.

They're not too shabby but need a bit of work, mind you, not much

As you are still in the initial stages I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about.
My BG level at diagnosis was 17.1 mmol/l fasting and my last evening reading was 6.4 - that is 7 months from DX.
It isn't as though I am trying all that hard - at least it doesn't feel as though I am. Salads, celery, tomatoes, courgettes, mushrooms, peppers - and a freezer full of meat and fish, coffee with cream, a few berries, also with cream. I have no problem sticking to it.

Those numbers are a tad too high for my liking. Reducing carbs a bit more could help. Protein isn't always a free food either. It can raise bs and it does raise insulin. Try replacing carbs with some healthy fats like avocado olive oil and some nuts if you can?
