Hello to every BODY

i am new member

i have diagnosed as diabetic patient 4 years ago, and since that time up to date i am feeling tired all the time, i lost my weight rapidly til i became very thin and couldn't manage my blood sugar below 200 all the time i have either high or low reading and 9.5 to 11HbA1C.

i have tried 3 types of insulin (mixtard, humalog mix25 & humalog mix50) i have adjusted (as advice by doctor) many times but the result remain the same high sugar level or hypoglycemia.

i am looking forward to hear any medical advice

many thanks

Hi. It is always possible you have a diabetes variant such as MODY which has very wide sugar swings, although this is quite a rare form. In these rarer variants insulin doesn't always work well and other meds such as tablets may be better. As the web says defining these variants can be very difficult for the GP. It may just be you have a problem making use of insulin and trying different ones and regimes may be the only approach. I wish you luck.

Hi Mun

Can I ask whether you are overweight?

I ask as it can be one reason for why insulin may not be helping your blood sugar levels as much as expected.

It is not the only reason though and there could be more factors at work here. Has your health team been able to offer any help?

Have you considered Mdi.. Multiple daily injections... Rather than mixtard twice daily regimes. Mdi can give more balanced levels.

A lot will however depend on your lifestyle, eating and exercising and routines..
