Blood test results

Just had a raft of blood tests back. My cholesterol is 9mml!! Above 5 is cause for concern so what does that make 9. I have been eating low carb, high fat since June so presumably that’s why.
With the pancreatitis, high cholesterol and RH I’ve no idea what I should be eating anymore.
Can anyone recommend an excellent nutritionalist or dietician I can’t wait for the NHS to catch up with how fast this is all progressing.
Thanks

There have been recent studies that show that cholesterol is not governed by what you eat. I have tagged @Bluetit1802 to give you a link.
As for RH ers, it has to be low carb, to stop the triggers. But you do need to find your balance.
I do not know about pancreatitis. But I would assume that a very low carb diet would aid treatment and your health.

Do speak to your endocrinologist about your issues.

Best wishes

You need to get attention from a specialist if you have very high LDL (which is normally self generated)
You must have had a number of bloods done? Apparent high LDL is more serious with high Ferritin.

I think you have more going on Rose than is corrected by simple dietary change? Please consult your specialist because you need a full suite of information to get to the root cause. A small percentage of the population has a condition that produces very high cholesterol, I hope you do not have that condition.

There is plenty of good science on YouTube when one follows people like the fat emporer. ( Ivor Cummins).
One needs to do research oneself if medics give low levels of help.
regards
Derek

I have the same issue; my cholesterol has gone very high from being very good over winter. I am seeing my GP today to ask for a vitamin d test. Whatever my GP says, I will start taking a high dose vitamin d3 supplement but would like a blood test first if I can, so as to prove what is going on.

My exercise has also reduced over winter that may be another factor.

When I had an untreated underactive thyroid my cholesterol also went very high, so get your GP to test for an underactive thyroid, T3, T4, as well as TSH, needs checking.

A few very fit and lean people on low carb get high cholesterol for no known reasons, it seems to do them so hard. As I am not fit or lean, clearly I am not a lean hyporesponder (http://cholesterolcode.com/hyper-responder-faq/)

I was watching a video just the other day and the doc said that TSH was like TC, a totally useless number taken on its own so we must start asking about the breakdowns more. No idea if it is accurate or not.

Sorry but no can do at the moment. My links are at home on my PC and I am on holiday this week. All I can say is our bodies (the liver) makes over 85% of our cholesterol irrespective of what we eat.

Personally, my lipids improved once I cut out carbs and went back to real fats from animals, avoiding processed plant oils as much as possible. My LDL has increased slightly but as my trigs are low I gather the LDL will have mostly the big fluffy particles that do no damage. My HDL jumped up significantly.

TSH is good enough to check that the dose of T4 is still correct provided TSH was very high to start with. However a few people have low T3 with normal TSH, hence both needs checking before it can be assumed that they are OK.

That is what happens to most poeple and my results where like that last summer, however none HDL was very high last week. I have not increased my carbs.

When the sun comes out you should make plenty of Vit D..it is made from cholesterol in the skin.
Totally depleting ones LDL by statins can't be very good for producing Vit D!

However 70% of the population in Northern Europe have low Vit D so it's a fair bet most of us are.

Thanks Lamont, she wasn’t interested and has prescribed me an anti-depressant. Feeling very fed up with it all. Gastro appointment on May 22 maybe they will help? LIpid appointment in July if I get that far.
