blood test

Hi Angie,a lot of doctors/nurses do not recommend blood testing for type 2's but how else are you supposed to find out how food affects your blood sugar levels? The test strips are very expensive and the doctors try to cut down their budget spending by refusing to give type 2's monitors and test strips. This is not right and is actually contrary to NICE guidelines.

thanks for that it does seem a bit odd to me and as sometimes i get a bit shaky i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do or if i should do anything at all, i've been reading the food pages and i don't know really anything about what i'm supposed to be counting or is that just for type 1's i've not seen the diatician yet,

I originally bought my own meter,Angie, then I showed the results of my tests to the doctor to show that I was motivated enough to take control of my diabetes.I now get my test strips on repeat prescription with no problem .

I have to say this is the first time i've been on this site or any other but you've been really helpfull and i do appreciate it, the last question i will bother you with just now is should i not drink any alcohol at all or what is best on metformin tablets .

Hi Angie

It's no bother at all, read the boards and ask all the questions you feel you need to :)
