Hey, ive had a blood test today due to my muscle weakness as i cant walk up the stairs without getting tired and sometimes my legs would give way and ill fall. All levels were normal as in liver and kidney except for my urea nitrogen levels which were 2.2 mmol. Does anyone know anything about these low levels or who had had low levels before that can shed some light on this? Thanks

This article does give some explanations of low levels,

Low values
  • A low BUN value may be caused by a diet very low in protein, malnutrition, or severe liver damage.
  • Drinking excessive amounts of liquid may cause overhydration and cause a low BUN value.
  • Women and children may have lower BUN levels than men because of how their bodies break down protein.
  • A low BUN-to-creatinine ratio may be caused by a diet low in protein, a severe muscle injury called rhabdomyolysis, pregnancy, cirrhosis, or syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). Page 2 of the article.
