Hi All,
I was at the Doctor's for unrelated reasons a month ago & thought I should mention I had been going to the toilet 8-10 times a day & once every single night for the past few months. I ended up getting a Blood & Urine test which both came back "Satisfactory". Now, having done a bit more research on Diabetes since then, I found out the 2 usual tests are Fasting & GTT. However, in my case it seems I was just given a generic test with no guidance as whether or not to eat beforehand.
Was anyone else given a generic test like that here?
Over Christmas I seem to have developed more symptoms (thirst & tiredness) & going to the toilet more despite eating less carbs & avoiding high GI ones. I already eat 5 times a day rather than 3 big meals because of weight lifting.
I called my Doctor again today expecting an informed discussion & he barely made any comments other than telling me to get another regular blood test. I mentioned the GTT because my Sister had had one whilst pregnant but he said they don't do them initially. My concern is that if I have Pre-Diabetes, it might get missed depending on the time of day I have the blood test - I tend to urinate & feel most tired in the late morning & afternoon. I booked my blood test for 12:00 this time to try & get around that. (My last test was at 09:30.)
Is my Doctor right to be giving me a generic blood test rather than a Fasting or GTT?
Thanks Guys!
