Interesting - but if Blueberries were the ONLY fruit that they were testing I'd question the results. Surely adding ALMOST ANY fruit to the dry "rations" that the animals were fed would show some health benefits...

Any anyway - Blueberries taste like poo.

Blueberries are both nutritious and delicious, I started eating them when I was told they help promote eye health and eat them everyday with my morning porridge, the cholesterol effect will be a bonus should this found to be the same in humans.

Sorry - I didn't mean to offend Blueberries...

They do taste funny to me, though. Maybe it's just me - but they have a really "earthy" taste to them. Shame, 'cos they LOOK lovely!

It had to happen, for once I am in full agreement with you Patch

Never tried poo. Blueberries are an acquired taste, not my favourite berry.

I like blueberries but like Patch wonder what would happen if they were fed other fruits or parts of fruits or even chocolate which also has high levels of various flavonoids and polyphenols.
The research is directed at being able to promote blueberries ie increasing the market. (perfectly valid motivation)

Identification and recovery of the effective bioactive polyphenolic compound
from this byproduct could benefit producers and processors economically and provide opportunity for the development of food products that promote health.
I wonder why the research has turned up in a press release today, it was published a year ago and is available as a full paper
