Blurred vision

Hi everyone can anyone I've had blurred vision for about 2 months now I went for an eye test before I was diagnosed with diabetes and the options said I was short sighted and needed glasses I picked them up at the weekend and I tried them on and couldn't see a thing they said I need to get used to them but I can see better without them the only thing I can't read now is small writing on my phone which I could read normally a few weeks ago all strange to me as never suffered with my eyes before

When I was diagnosed with diabetes I found that once I started medication I couldn't wear my glasses it made my vision very blurry. My diabetes nurse explained that your prescription can change as your blood sugar starts to come down I had to wait 2 months to have my eyes tested to allow time for my levels to stabilise I now have a different prescription and my vision has improved a lot. I hope this helps in some way

A few years ago, when I was taking antibiotics for a chest infection, my optician commented on the change in my sight. She told me to come back about a month after I'd got over the infection and my blood sugar was back to normal. I did this and when she retested my eyes there was an improvement in my prescription.

If your blood sugar is at normal levels and has been for at least a month, I'd recommend going back to your optician and asking them to retest.

yeh I have been told by ophthalmologists and optometrists that it's best to have your sugar in range when getting tested by them as high sugar levels can affect your vision. I know I can get blurry vision if my sugar is too high, along with thirst, etc. I'm sure if you get tested again you can get the right prescription for your glasses. I wish you the best.

Something similar happened to me @hisjen84 ! I was diagnosed and as soon as started taking insulin my nearsightedness vanished for about a week. I had worn glasses for probably 15 years and then all of sudden i could see perfectly lol

It didn't stay much more then 2 weeks and most of the time i was someplace between perfect vision and my actual perscription so i just plain couldn't see lol

When you have high sugars OP it can affect your vision and cause temporary problems, unfortunetly you may have had your eye test at a time when your high sugars was affecting your actual perscription those giving you a false reading when you took your test. Once you were diagnosed and lowered your sugars you vision could have changed back making your prescription incorrect.
I would suggest taking another eye exam and see what happens with the new results compare the old.
