An awful lot.
Was checked at PT this morning for my fat %
l am now at 13% body fat
Was at 28% body fat
The bulk of fat has been lost this year :-)

Brilliant news, but I am not at all surprised because I have read a lot of your posts and know that you have a sensible attitude to diet and exercise. Well done.

Not for me l still have a lot l told PT l intended to go lower he grumped and said will see. l have huge b**bs and a big a**e which need removing and still got a tummy hang although he said l need to concentrate more on toneing at the moment that will pull things in.

Wow. You must be so proud of yourself. I'm gonna have to check out your posts to see what you did!

And Breath he has calipers with numbers on, can get them of amazon and keep fit places it pinches the flob and you calculate it off that.

l never weigh myself cause loosing fat is great but l am gaining muscle which is heavier so it gets very upsetting to see weight not going down enough and as happened start february go up from 89 to 91. Thats when l said no more weighing. Thats why folks give up on getting fit. l started at 105kg dont know what l am now.

Rosie l LCHF have about 30gram carbs a day. Try to get to the PT once a week for an hr
Have a kettlebell and excercise bike l sort of use with excercises my PT has given us.
Walk a lot more.
We kayak not enough but some.
Still only managing to run couple 100yds before l am gasping and have 6 mile Total Warrior race start of August l shudder over.

Main thing is the eating plan and a brilliant husband who cooks for me and brilliant PT who has worked with my major unhealthy body with excercises l could do and built me up.

@MudIslandDweller - so, how does he factor in the visceral fat, or is his whole calculation based on subcutaneous fat, and assuming the full body picture reflects those proportions?

What about one of those snazzy sets of scales that calc body fat as a %? I think they also do water %, don't they?

You could always look away when it is telling you your weight...

Only way to do visceral is with a body scan. And if the outer fat is going as it is then it is immaterial what the inner is doing as l can not see if or how much there is and what counts is loosing fat as l am doing proper eating and excercise.

The snazy scales are a rip off and why pay for what l dont use. l am not worried about water given 70% of us is water.

I could get my own calipers but l would risk obsession this way l get done every so often and a result that makes sense and useful as l say weight is false due to fat/muscle.

To be honest, my main concern is the visceral fat, as that's what is surrounding my vital organs. The subcutaneous stuff, whilst pesky, and needs to go ( or is largely gone, in my case), but for our condition.

I'm sure that the quality and skilful application of callipers can be just as inaccurate as scales utilising biomedical impedance, although slightly less so with scales employing sensors on the foot plate and hand held grips. For me? I'm keen to ensure that if I am losing weight, I'm not losing muscle, and conversely, if gaining weight I understand if I am gaining muscle or fat.

I guess, a bit like our meters, it's important to choose our weapons and take the trends and numbers advisedly.

And breath we have to disagree over the scales and your logic.

Scales do not measure visceral ONLY scans do scales look at height weight and as stated water immaterial waste of money.
l am not going to stress over the things l can not do short of demanding a scan....can see my dr face at that one. And given the nhs obsession with bmi nothing else exists...like them and carbs life revolvrs around misinfo.

There is no doubt of the fat l am loosing nor of the muscle gained or of the effects on my body inc blood pressure down.

l stand by my weight comment ....it is a waste of time (unless it is for example horse riding so you are not to heavy for the horse) and also that bmi is a load of b.....x and l refuse to have it done as it is fast becoming disproved....except to the nhs by way of a change!

Like so many things people have been brainwashed into thinking it is importaint.

We can agree to disagree. :)

I don't dispute the measurement of fat but not everyone is as scientific as you lot! I try I really do but sometimes I don't understand! When I was at school, I would get A for attitude and D for ability! We all had to do biology which I failed the first time round and got a B in the November resit. (Paper was very unbalanced both times. First time it was about the heart, second time it was plants based. And I always knew and understood the stuff about plants. Used to go green and faint when they did the human stuff. ) give me languages or humanities and I'm fine. So what I'm trying to say is I'm too fat. I can see this now I've faced up to reality and look in the mirror now. I can reduce this through diet. Exercise has never really had that great an impact but I do love to walk to music and I want to be fit. I also know how it impacts on bs. But it's comforting to stand on those scales and watch the huge number diminish a bit every week. I love reading all your posts and sometimes I even understand them!
