Type 2 Bodybuilding / weightlifting, lack of "pump"

For anyone that has never lifted weights before, there is a thing called 'the pump' that happens as a result of lifting the weights, where the muscle or muscles being worked swell / pump up with blood and get really full.

My 'pumps' used to be good, but it seems the last couple of years since I was diagnosed type 2, my pumps have just gotten worse, to the point that they are almost non-existent now.

Tried to Google it to confirm that it was caused by diabetes, but was unable to find anyone anywhere talking about it.

All I really want to do is confirm that this is a symptom of the diabetes, so that my mind can be at ease that it isn't caused by some other yet to be identified condition.

Anyone..?

Hi,

I feel if anyone knows this stuff. It would be @Mbaker . So I'll tag him in for you. :)

I'm going to assume this is when your arms look bigger immediately after finishing weights? I might be imagining it, but it seems that way when I lift.

Yeah, they look bigger because they are bigger. If you measure them before a workout and then right after, they might be an inch or more bigger 'cos you pumped them full of blood.

Assuming you are eating less sugar and carbs, your muscles will be holding onto less water, this provides the "swoll" look. The easiest way to replace this look without the carbs is a salty pre-workout drink. I would recommend LMNT if you can get it or a tea spoon of LO-SALT in a glass of water (just neck it), available from all the big super markets.

This podcast I watched a couple of days ago which has a natural Keto body builder and Dr Shawn Baker who is more of a power based athlete:

Thanks.

Its very short-lived though. I guess that is what they do in the movies for certain scenes? That and spray some kind of oil on them.
