I’m really sorry to ask another question.
Can someone please explain what I’ve done wrong and if I’m destined to always have a coffee with a splash of milk when out with friends and lattes are a no no.
Yesterday I met friends for a coffee in the afternoon around 3pm and before my latte I was a lovely stable 6. I worked out that the milk in the small latte would be around 20g so I injected 2 units of Novorapid about 10 mins before the latte.
I enjoyed the latte with a couple of sweeteners but after about 15 mins the high alarm on the sensor was going off and my sugars were 13.9 and rising.
They eventually peaked at 16 where it stayed for about an hour before very slowly dropping down to 12 and staying there before tea.

What an interesting question. I would love to know the answer as I love to drink a "flat white" at a cafe but have recently decided it is too carb heavy for me and taken to having a long black with milk on the side. And that made my bg rise unexpectedly too...

Do you think they sneak extra sugar into the coffee? (Not a serious suggestion).

I’m a T2 no meds and like my coffee black, but when I was on Gliclizide and out and about if I went low I would have a cortardo and it would bring my numbers back up above 4 and keep them there so it’s possible all the milk in a Latte is raising your BG.

Just had a quick Google- there are 21g carb in a large Costa latte if that helps

Would it help to bolus earlier? (Lots of posters here call novorapid novosluggish)

I wasn’t sure how far in advance you could Bolus, the DSN said no more than 10 mins before you eat and ideally when you sit down but I can certainly try and Bolus earlier and see if that helps.
Otherwise I’ll just have to stick my regular coffee, it’s hard enough to see my friends eating cake if they want & various coffees and with all the flavoured coffees now at there, I did think a latte would make it a bit more special for me.
Thank you

Oops, just realised you are T2 and not T1 so my advice is cross posting slightly. As a T1 I wouldn't be afraid to bolus earlier than 10 minutes but I stress that I am T1 and not T2.

Could you try a latte with unsweetened soya milk? That's what I usually have.

I love latte, currently it would use up my entire days carb budget, you have to decide if it’s worth it, worth injecting, worth the spike, worth miscalculating.

I would only have a latte if I’m on a running high and don’t care buzz, I guess we pay our money and take our chances, I’m pretty sure no one ever said DB was fun. Sorry

Ooh, I could give that a try. I’m presuming that the coffee shops have unsweetened soya milk as an alternative?
Thank you

My introduction to insulin was with Novarapid 100, from which I quickly graduated to Novarapid 200, which I have been ever since. I've got into the habit of injecting myself 10-20 minutes before a meal and that usually works well for me.

Are others on different insulins that react quicker, and if so, how much quicker. I'm a type 2, but insulin dependant.
