Hi all

I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant, and while control so far has been good, in the last 2 weeks I've started to get spikes in the evenings which then stay there overnight, meaning I wake up far too high as well. Not good for me or baby.

I started off with some basal testing to make sure that was in the right place - and it was. If I don't eat anything I stay a nice steady 5 all evening and overnight too. So it's going to be either my bolus or correction that's wrong. I have seen links posted before on how to do basal testing, but is there a similar guide on bolus/correction testing?

Hi @ArtemisBow
Have you got a copy of Pumping insulin by John Walsh ?
there are chapters in the book devoted to adjusting carb factors and correction factors
( which is the bolus part of being on a pump )

Yes I do - somewhere. We've just moved house so it's in one of the many book boxes waiting to be unpacked. I had hoped there might be a link to the same information. Looks like I need to do some unpacking!

i have been looking to see if i could find you an online version but no luck so far -- maybe somebody else may have something

all the best !!

As a rough guideline. If you are high or low 2-3 hours after a meal its your bolus. However, if correcting you should aim to be normal by 5 hours, anything quicker than that will make you more likely to go low...
The best thing for bolus testing is to eat and test hourly for 5 hours without anymore eating or bolus's. See what happens.
