Hi All,
2012 was a really bad year for me for a host of reasons and I came off the whole 'I have Diabetes' thing and did my world-famous ostrich impersonation. As a result, I regained all the weight I had lost, plus another 7lbs and my BSs are now high once again. So, new year, new start and now I cannot find my carb counter books. Can anyone recommend a really good, accurate carb counter book and any good UK recipe books please. I haven't even been on here for over a year, so I've lost touch with the whole low carb world so I'm basically starting all over again. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

The Calorie Carb & Fat Bible 2012 is a good reference for carb counting, check out the low-carb food section for recipe ideas.

Good luck with the diet again

Can recommend websites where you input the food you have eaten and it shows you carbs/cals and fats etc. They would be myfitnesspal or myfatsecret, both pretty good and have apps for your phone.

Thankyou both for this help, it is much appreciated. Off to amazon now to buy the book (can't go anywhere else 'cos we are snowed in today!).

The Calorie Carb & Fat Bible is published every year so the current edition would be 2013 but if you can find either a copy of last years edition or even an older second hand one they dont change that much so it will be cheaper and cals, carbs and fat dont alter every year do they?

There are smaller pocket guides but they are not as actuate as The Calorie Carb & Fat Bible so I would recommend this book.

Edit:~ Just found the new edition at £8.90 with free delivery if you dont want it tomorrow, this is a very good price as my 2009 copy cost me £12.99  http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/sh ... -bible.htm

do you mean you have a copy of Gary Taubes book without the 450 notes and 66 pages of references to published research papers at the back?
I know my copy is an American edition, but I didn't know they were that different. Which chapter has been removed from your copy?
I'm chcking the reference to the highfat diet weight loss now!

Hana I dont have any books by Taubes at all, I just know that he was forced to remove certain passages as they were proved to be incorrect, if my memory serves me correctly they related to him incorrectly quoting certain research findings to fit in with his theory. It may have been highlighted in Jimmy Moores interview with Carbsane although I cant be certain.

Heres the link to it if you want to listen, personally I cant be bothered to wade through to it again as I disagree with a lot of what Taubes says anyway and I cant be bothered to discuss him anymore, especially as the forum has been so nice and peaceful recently bar one or two exceptions.

I use spark people which is a free site where you can input recipes to get the nutritional breakdown or search nutritional
Info for individual foods. They also have loads of recipes although only a few are tagged low cab
