Meant to put this on before I said goodnight (pea brain)
I read lots of books and am getting to the point where it's difficult to find a good one. Mainly read easy reads like Lyn Andrews Sally Warboys. Freda Lightfoot. Rosie Goodwin. Maggie Hope. Don't like murders or detective stories or anything creepy can anyone suggests some titles/authors please
If there any Catherine Cookson fans out there I found a book called Tilly Trotters Legacy, it's a concluding book to the series : Tilly Trotter, Tilly Trotter Wed & Tilly Trotter Widowed it was written on behalf of the late Catherine Cookson by Rosie Goodwin and it was brilliant. I believe she has written others too on behalf of CC but her own books are good if you like easy reads

Hi phootiggy
I love reading , can't sleep unless I have read ..
Have you tried any Lesley Pearce books. Or Rachael Hore ... They are pretty good a bit of a mystery to solve but not a murder one . Lucinda Riley is also very good , but I think you might like Santa Montifiere best !!! Give them a Google .. :) x

I also must read before going to sleep.

You'll find some nice easy reads among these authors:
Helen Forrester
Ellie Dean
Nadine Dorries
Patricia Scanlan
Marian Keyes (Watermelon is really funny!)
Emma Hannigan
Jodi Picoult

I hope you find something you like.

I love Jodi Taylors' St. Mary's chronicles series. History, time travel, love, action, great storytelling and a cuppa to go with it!

Another chic lit I've been following is Denise Grover Swanks, Rose Gardner's stories, lighthearted crime series.

Both of them good fun.

There is an author that posts on here and she writes historical novels.
Witness, a Matthew Reed Tudor novel is her first, her pen name is Lesley Hale.
They are quite good!

From the books you've said you like these might suit you:

Apple and Rain by Sarah Crossan
The Lives of Women Christine DwyerHickey,
Song of Australia by Stephen Crabbe,
The Scarlet Kimono by Christina Courtenay,
The Year of Taking Chances by Lucy Diamond
The Photographer's Wife by Nick Alexander
All My Love, Detrick by Roberta Kagan
The Headmaster's Wife by Thomas Christopher Greene
The Amber Keeper by Freda Lightfoot
The Letter by Kathryn Hughes
The Bookstore by Deborah Meyler
Also, I'd recommend 2 authors who have written a few good books - Jill Dawson and an Australian author Kathryn Heyman

Nosher, you might like The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, I really enjoyed it and gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

Sorry about the odd use of red in this. I was copying and pasting and for some reason it won't let me change it all to black!

Ebooks have opened up a whole new market place for authors who couldn't get published in print. So there are so many new ways of telling stories. And much cheaper!
Easier to store and when you get to my age, a lot lighter in your hands!

Agreed, I use a Kindle reader so much easier to hold & lighter too I do still buy the occasional paperback, I don't mind either as long as the stories keep coming just love books

I never thought a Kindle would replace books for me, but it has. I love always having plenty of books on it to choose from, and as I tend to buy things which are daily deals I often only spend 99p on a really good read. The only thing that bothers me is my tendency to drop it as I nod off!

When they first came out I swore I would never have one but I have an 'iffy' hand from an injury, it's fused at the wrisr and makes holding anything difficult, my kindle is easier to hold than books but now & then I get the urge for a real book & treat myself. I too have had some good 99p reads just making a list of all my new authors...brilliant

Of course, some of the ones I suggested were Daily Deals and will no doubt now be at a higher price. I did recently read all the Cadfael series - some 21 books - and I paid full price for each one, but I'd hurt my leg and was laid up for a bit so I counted that as comfort reading. A bit like the long period I couldn't walk as I had awful sciatica - I read all of Terry Pratchet's books and the whole of Anne McCaffery's dragon series.
