Hi all, how is everyone.
I love bread. There I've said it and no taking it back. However despite my attraction to the loaf I'm trying to eat healthier. What is the best bread for a T2 or bread alternative, all the ones I've found seem to be about 17g a slice.

Keep low...incoming.....

Sounds like a food addiction problem to me..? I know... I used to have it too.
Went cold turkey and knocked it on the head completely.. far easier than trying substitutes which are never the same.

Cold turkey on rye?. I think it may be the best option but my dad taught me years ago, the best option is rarely the easiest

Have you tried Rye bread, it seems to have less sugar than 17 g

This is a Australian bread that I have been eating for awhile called Herman Brot lower carb bread. Two slices are 10 grams / 100 grams carbs.

I could not see where you are in your profile, so if you do not live in Australia you are out of luck.

Edit: Corrected carb content.

All approx carbs per slice soya & linseed 11g - Tesco finest protein loaf 8g, Morrisons higher protein 8g
- warburtons lower carb 9g - WW wholemeal 7g

Haven't eaten bread since Christmas but my preference was the Tesco one - nearest to nice tasting bread

You will only know if you can tolerate by testing, testing and testing again :)

Thanks lovinglife, very sound advice

HiLo bread, small loaf so small slices at 5g carbs per slice or Burgen soya and linseed bread 11.8g carb per large sized slice.
However they are both brown varieties and I really was a white bread type of girl, so I just don’t eat bread anymore.

I think its the linseeds but every type of low carb bread I buy gives me hiccups. :banghead:

Hovis make a Lower Carb bread. its a whitish seeded loaf, cant remember the carbs, think just under 10g per slice, but i found it tasted sweet and only bought the one loaf.

If it is any help, I have been making attempts to bake a lower carb bread - it is certainly lower than the white loaves I used to make, but a lot denser - the yeast needs to be very active or it comes out with the density of bricks, even with the help of baking powder. Don't be afraid to add the small amount of sugar it takes to get the yeast going - I use the old fashioned yeast which has to be put into warm water with a bit of sugar to start it - the sort used for bread making machines is not so powerful, it goes faster at first but tails off quickly too.
The recipe to date can be found in my blog on this forum.
I put the loaves into the freezer as that seems to help to ration it out, and I make small loaves or the latest ploy is to use muffin tins.
