Piqued my interest so I had to look that up.
Seemed he had good intentions. Not sure he can be blamed for the advice they have given over the last 50 years or so though.

The first attraction of grain was that it made beer, not bread - apparently.
The earliest known gathering place of Humankind had several pits which would hold water, and they had silica spicules in the bottom, most likely from grain which was fermented in the pits.
