Just diagnosed and I’m working out a diet plan. So far ok on lunch and dinner but struggling a bit on breakfast. At home I used to have Frosties or a croissant and jam, going out I’d have scrambled eggs and salmon. I think I’m right in thinking eggs are ok but I’d like to keep that as a going out treat. Was looking at the no sugar Alpen with no sugar soya milk would that be ok ? Any suggestions for simple to make breakfast appreciated.
Also any recommendations on good brand of multi vitamin and what kind of dose. Also any specific vitamins and minerals worth loading up on ?

Do you need to have breakfast at all?
I ditched it and just have coffee with double cream.. extending my overnight fast a bit longer is great for reducing blood glucose levels over time.
Otherwise any cold meats should be fine or bacon of course.

Alpen free alone is extremely high in carbs in the order it looks like of 68g per 100g. Soya milk does have some carbs I believe so it’ll just add to that. It is not really recommended for Type 2 who are trying to reduce their carbs. Not sure on muesli impact in general, some types of carbs are more impactful than others

what I look at if I have breakfast:
full fat Greek yoghurt with berries
Avacado
Eggs and salmon are good
Cheese and ham
Bacon, sausages

so quite a few options

Basically no cereal is helpful, contrary to what my nurse said

No breakfast a concept I hadn’t considered lol. Unfortunately bacon is off for me but did get some nice sausages from the Jewish butcher so that’s a consideration. I’ll give the other thread a look. Anything on vitamins?

"Break fast" is simply whatever is your first food of the day, at whatever time you have it.
It mostly marketing from businesses that says it needs to cereals or certain foods.
It could be cheese, cold meats, fish. I often have last nights leftovers or yoghurt with seeds and berries, or more often I don't eat until midday

I only eat twice a day at most - I found that I was not hungry after a good breakfast.
I used to have lunch and supper, but found that my blood glucose was more stable eating at 12 your intervals.
When feeling a bit down, I find that it helps to make a pancake batter with an egg and half a blob of Mozzarella cheese - about 60 gm, blending the two together and then pouring it into a bowl and adding a little psyllium husk flour, or a nut flour to give it a bit more substance works well. The pancakes are rather fragile so I make them small and keep them warm until I can eat them with lemon juice and Stevia sweetener.
I don't add the thickener in the blender as it goes gloopy and then the blender is impossible to clean out.
I keep meaning to try adding some cream to the mix and then forget - I will get round to it eventually.
These days I can feel down for no real reason, and I have no idea why pancakes cheer me up - but it seems to work every time.
