I test before meals and 2 hours after, I also test before bed and if I wake in the night, I am very lucky that my GP presribes 200 testing strips whenever I want!

People who are touchy.......feign indignation at the slightest thing. Hypocrites, bullies and cowards.
Glad to hear it Jan. Do you know what a T2 should be aiming for before and after meals with regard to Bg levels. Forgive me if you do it's just something you need to know.

Does any of my breakfast choices appeal ?

The choices certainly do appeal! I am aiming for 4 to 7 before meals and have been advised no more than 10 after but I really want to get that down to below an 8 I am seeing the Specialist next week and have decided to ask him all sorts such as going on a course to learn more about this illness and also to see if I would be better off on a different insulin regime (I am on novamix 30)

Hi jan.

As a T2 the after meal Bg number shouldn't really go above 8.5. If you can get it lower then so much the better.

As for the choices it is really trial and error. You need to keep testing especially when you try new foods. Don't be surprised if you are given conflicting advice when you see the specialist or DSN. Just ask us back here and we will do our best to explain it all.

WOW - KAREN!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a star!! This looks amazing. It's in German and I only speak French, but we can get over that. This looks like a godsend. Thank you so much.

I discovered, with help from a colleague, Wasa crispbread this weekend, which is great and keeps my BS low, so now I can have BREAKFAST!!!

try this - does involve eggs I am afraid but please try it you will not be dissapointed:

Ingredients:

2 Eggs
4 or 5 medium strawberries
double cream
dribble of vanilla essence
1oz full fat cream cheese.
Artificial sweetener - powder. - 2 teaspoons.

method.

1. heat the cream cheese for about 15 seconds in microwave.
2. Mix together the eggs in a bowl with the cream cheese - splash of vanilla essence and artificial sweetener.
3. fry like an omellete in butter until golden - do both sides.
4. When cooked put the strawberries in the middle of the omellte and fold over.
5.Serve with a large dollop of double cream.

This sounds divine. We will give this a test run at the weekend!

I have a problem with breakkies too... l get eczema and so am told to avoid dairy- however l eat loads of eggs now.. ooohhh.... lm definitely intolerant to milk and cream etc- l look pregnant its awful! And love cheese... but then dont know if shouldnt be eating this stuff. I know this sounds silly but could whoever created us allocated illness more fairly... rather than a really bad bout of eczema as a child... continuing into adulthood and just for additional measure chuck in type 1 diabetes! ;)
