Hey guys I just have been having a problem lately with high bs level after i have breakfast , I have tried literally everything , carb with injecting hour before hand and Today I tried no carb breakfast where I had only two boiled eggs , before eating the breakfast my level was 6.9 and after two hours it went up to over 13 , so was wondering if any one else had the same issue

How long after getting out of bed do you eat breakfast?

My BG rises in the morning even without breakfast (foot on the floor effect), can it be you're looking at something like that rather than a breakfast rise?

Normally I eat after 30-45 mins after getting out of bed , maybe you’re right it could be that instead of the food , I think I might try giving breakfast a miss for next few day , thanks for that much appreciated

I go through periods of this, best action I can take when suffering a glucose dump is to eat upon waking, generally 2 big spoons of plain greek yoghurt and a small bolus, eating tricks my liver into stopping the dump, but a bolus too corrects the rise.

Even without breakfast we still get the liver dump of glucose, eating as soon as you wake tricks the liver into stopping the dump early on, the longer you leave food the more of a rise you can get.

May I ask how long these dump last , as for me it’s been like this for last few months

Thanks will try the yogurt method and see if that helps out

I inject for Foot on the Floor before getting out of bed and I don't do breakfast except a small splash of milk in my coffee.
This approach usually keeps me stable.
So again, it looks like it's not one size fits all!

@Loony81x , looks like you have two approaches now to work with: see what happens with no breakfast and trying the yoghurt trick :)

just a check on basals .......if you are on MDI are you sure your basal insulin is right for you.....and if on a pump possibly setting your basal rates to help compensate for dawn phenomenon and foot on the floor ???

all advice given above i agree with too !!!

Sadly how long is a piece of string, there's no answers to this, just also worth mentioning to your diabetic team too, it's a possible criteria for pump access.

Well I be honest I ain’t had no diabetic team since I been diagnosed, only last week my doctor agreed to send me to an diabetic consultant after my last blood came at about 84 , every thing I have learned is from reading this forum
